Insulating/Retrofit Old Wood Sash
We just bought a home built in 1931 and has the original windows with the charming wavy glass, solid wood of course. Nearly every window has at least one counterweight cord missing and during our home inspection the inspector said they make a product that is essentially a vinyl liner that you install on the sides of the sash allowing you to insulate the cavity where the counterweight would go and obviously remove them. He didn't know what to call it and after some googling I've yet to find what he is looking for.

Any ideas on what he was talking about?

Are you planning on just taking the remaining weights out to insulate it? If you are you could just use foam boards cut to size.

edit: Sorry I haven't heard of the liner before though :(

You are referring to a compression jamb liner and the weight boxes should be insulated with foam or another medium.
