Installing a Bi-Fold closet door

I am installing a bi-fold closet door in a bedroom but i am unsure about the clearance space i need. My finished opening is 79 1/2" x 25 1/2". The door i I am installing is 78 3/4" by 23 1/2". I am packing out the width 1 1/2" to be 24" so I have a 1/2" and the height 1/2" to make it 79". So my final demensions should be a finished opening of 79" x 24". That should give me a 1/2" gap for width and a 1/4" gap for height. Is that enough room for opening the door once the carpet is installed?

The rough and finished sizes of opening sizes needed are right on the box the bi fold came in.
The finished size would have to allow about 3/4" for carpet and padding.

Thanks Joe.. So i am ok with the width. My concern may be with the height? Doesnt the doors allow a 1/4" for height adjustment?

I put in my RO at the door width plus 2" and my height is at 82". So 3'-0" door gets a 38x82 opening.

Vinny,
if you are installing the door with wood jambs, then the rough opening should be 2" bigger than the actual door size in both directions, as Cleve said. If it's going into a drywall wrapped opening, then the width should be the same as the finish size of the door. Ex. 48" bifold door needs 48" drywalled opening. For the height, add 3/4" to the actual height of the door.
