Install Replacement Window

I am installing a vinyl replacement window in my house and I have never done it before. Is it difficuly to do alone and what are the steps?

Install Replacement Window

Post a picture of what the window looks like now.
The old window not the new one. No close ups needed.

+1

Pretty straightforward depending on the type of set.

There are plenty videos out there that detail different install types.

Hey Vinny, my suggestion is to go watch about 10 youtube videos about it, and read about 10 articles on the web about it, and then come back here with specific questions about the details that those things miss or that you didn't fully understand. And once you get started, come back with pictures when you have problems and people will be happy to help. Use Photobucket, or Flickr or whatever to host your pictures (they are free services).

Install Replacement Window

other things to know when installing vinyl windows are, this installation is for an existing wood sash, replacing old aluminum windows with vinyl has different steps whether the replacement is an insert into existing aluminum frame or complete tear out and replacement. This article should have addressed where and what type of vinyl trim parts needed, where to place the shims and fasteners, how, and where to to measure with a a sloping sill, using non expanding foam fill at perimeter to eliminate air infiltration.

Follow the manufacturer directions that usually will come with the window. If not, they should have them available on their website online.

Maybe something bad, maybe something good. I guess we'll never know, 'cause you're going to guard it. You won't touch it, will you?
