help: Finishing window (pictures)
 

I am wondering how I could go about finishing my basement window. I am a first time renovator and am looking to tackle this job by myself. I am fairly handy with a access to the tools needed to finish the job.

After some research I read some different responses on how to finish it, but have finally been able to snap some pictures to get maybe a more detailed answer from the community. I am familiar of how to case the window I am mainly wondering how I would go about filling the gap between the frame and the lip of the window.

Anyways I will just post pictures from now and see where that goes. I appreciate all the input and help you all can give me.

If you are talking about the area over the insulation I think it would look best to Sheetrock it.

either sheetrock like Broughton said or make jamb extensions and trim it out

Remove the existing jamb and build a new one that comes out flush with the sheetrock if you’re just simply going to picture frame the trim.

So if I sheet rock it, won't it be like 1 step down from the current window sill? Will I have to raise the sheet rock up somehow? like lay a piece of mdf or something all around and then sheet rock on top of that?

Or am I to tuck the sheet rock tight under the gaps between the edge of the window and the sheetrock?

Does this make sense?

the windows in my house were drywalled on the inside but had marble sills on the bottom. where the drywall met the windows they installed small trim around 3 sides but i ripped all that out to put jambs in and trim around them because they looked so plain. but the drywall and molding would work in your case.

I would just but the drywall up to the jamb and the caulk and paint the joint, very clean looking. There will be a small reveal but I think it would look fine.
