Help with exterior door...

My goal is to change my side door entrance from a storm door into a solid door.

I have a side entrance that goes into the laundry room then there is a solid door into the main house. The side entry is currently a flimsy storm door with plexiglass that is not all that protective... Now that i have put a washer and dryer and have some other things in there i need it to be a solid door.

The dimensions are a little funky... The opening is 32.5"x74.5"

The guy at lowes said they could get a custom door like that but its going to be costly...

Looking for cheaper solution but if all else fails might need to order a custom door from them...
Thanks for your time

Post a picture of what you have now.
Any reason not to reframe the opening to the right size?

cant reframe it looks like an exterior porch thats been framed in and with the slant roof on it the top of the door is as high as it can go... with concrete steps beneath it....

A solid wood door can be cut down to fit that opening. Not a fun job even for a pro but it could be done.
May even want to check out a mobil home supply. Mobil home doors are shorter.

Sounds like you are more concerned with security as opposed to "sealing"? If so, do what Joe said and just cut down a solid door to fit. If you would prefer something with a decent fit and finish, you are going to be stuck ordering a 30" door with a custom height cut-down.

best to buy a solid door slab with seperate jamb kit with threshold to build the door. if you bought a door unit you would possibly mess it up taking it apart to customize...
