Help with door astragal
new to forum...looks great.
I recently replaced the 2 doors to my master bedroom; they consist of 2 doors with an astragal in the middle. Unfortunately, the opening made by the previous owner is about 1/4 inch too wide. So when you look at the closed doors from the inside, you see (in this order):
Left door edge, 1/4 inch gap, 1/4 inch astragal nailed to right door.
So I ask, what can I do to eliminate that 1/4 inch gap? Are thicker astragals available that I can use to close that gap?
It's not horribly ugly, but kind of a pain to see that gap. A visit to Lowes yesterday gave me an idea to put a 1/4 inch molding in between the astragal and the right door, and then caulk the edges.
