I want to put glass block where a window use to be. its a brick wall with a iron header where the window was 50yrs ago. Can i put the block on brick(with spacers, ect) or do i need to make a frame?*

Why not just buy a vinyl window with acrilic blocks that look like glass blocks.
Then it just slides into place, is air tite, no maintanice.
They even make acrilic block replacement windows.

If the are flush to the face of the brick---yes--no buck needed---

A tip----most brick yards will make up the blocks for you for a very small fee.

They will mortar them together and put a steel band around the whole thing---then you only need to mortar or caulk the outside edges.
