Which Garage Door?

Hi

I need to install an inexpensive insulated 8x7 garage door. Two of the big box stores have one for the same price, but different brands. From what I can see, the specs seem similar. One is made by Clopay and the other ReliaBilt.

Does anyone have an experience with the pros-and-cons of each?

Thanks . . . Brian

I have a Clopay with a Genie opener installed. It has opened and closed several times a day for about 15 years with no problems or complaints. Mine is uninsulated; I might do that differently if I did it again.

Thanks for the Clopay info. There are no user reviews for the Clopay door, which I find a little strange. The other door has mixed reviews, the negative mainly to do with missing parts. I've had Clopay before too, when they were wood. You've given yours a workout and it's held up. That's good to know.

I would go for the Clopay. Lowes "Reliabilt" changes manufacturers every few years. I believe it is Ankmar right now. Hard to get replacement parts down the road for a door that may have changed.

I have 2 Clopays, a 9x7 w.springs and a 9x8 w. torsion. Installed 12 years ago, no problems yet. both used eveyday, smaller twice a day. Had to adjust the closing distance 3 times over that time period. Insulated, no leaks, fairly quiet (depends on the openers). Have Chamberland (Costco) openers now, way better than Sears.

We used Clopay with success in my business.

Can't speak to the ReliaBilts but I have Clopays in my home as well.

Very well built.
