Exterior Steel Door to Hot @ Daycare

Hello. I need some advice/ideas on what I might be able to do about a commercial steel exterior door that gets to hot from the sun. It's the door that goes out to a small children's playground. It's painted a light red almost pink. What I need is to just somehow prevent the lower half from being hot to the touch so our teachers don't have to be so concerned about the children possibly burning their hands.

My mind is thinking through things like installing a square of plexiglass or wood or something that'll insulate against the heat transfer of the door to the touch. Is there anyone here that had had to deal with this or maybe know of a product out there that'll take care of my problem?

Also I should mention...due to the finished playground and it's dimension, a shade tree is a difficult and would be more of a long term option.

Thanks!

Paint it white.
All door companys I've ever seen have a sticker on the door when knew warning againt painting it to dark a color if it's in direct sun.

Large roof overhang, to shade that area.

+1

There are some photo reflective paints out there and the easiest way from point A to point B would be to paint it.

As also mentioned, an awning or portico would work as well.

Ok, sounds like painting it is the best short term solution. Thanks for the replies!
