Exterior Slab Door
I am installing an exterior slab door. I received the door and the hinge side and the strike side are both beveled.
If I mortise the hinge into the door so the edges are flush on all sides, the hinge will be at a slight angle when the door closed. Or do I mortise the hinge deeper on one side , so it will be parallel with the door jam when the door is closed. or, in other words, do I mortise the hinge deeper on the side opposite the beveled edge so the hinge will be flat when the door is closed.
How would I install the lock? Do I measure the 2 3/8" in distance for the center on the hole on the side opposite of the beveled edge? Won't the beveled edge throw off this measurement?
How do I mortise the striker? Do I have to mortise the side opposite the beveled edge deeper to compensate for the beveled edge. This will also throw off the 2 3/8" distance to the center of the large hole for the handle.
Thank you for your help.
