I have a glass and brick porch off of the back of my house. I would love to upgrade the current doors (they are just screen doors) with a true exterior door for a few reasons. I would like to put in a doggie door on one of them, have a better seal and insulation, better look and have it be able to swing in so I can open in when there is 2’ of snow on the ground. The problem is that the rough opening is only 31.5”, a little tight for a 30” door (most require a 32.5” rough opening). I would like to get one that is a full lite and the other a half lite (for the doggie door).
Any suggestions on what I can do?

Just a thought,
What if you were to remove some brick and frame it out for the doggy door. That way you can cover the hole with a foam panel when not in use.
Look at your framing real hard. Can you adjust your opening to receive a 30 inch door?
If you can rework the ruff framing just a little it will save you $$$ on the doors you put in.
Might even reuse the screen doors, to keep that snow from building up on those nice new doors, and rotting out the bottom.

Sorry if I’m thinking too far ahead and not answering your? But that is what I would try to do if it was my house.
