My front door has an oval stained glass center, the exterior molding surrounding the oval has shrunk. The store won't help. the glue has melted and there's now a 16th of an inch space between glass and door and spreading. How do I stretch the molding back. i was told a storm door is the culprit because the sun bakes the door. In New England, you need a storm door. I would not have purchased this door if I had known it would melt by the sun and or heat.

Just about any door company has warnings on the there web site or there was a sticker on the door warning about painting a dark color. As you found out it can distroy some doors.
Adding a storm over it makes what amounts to a solor panel.
Just guessing, is it a steel door? It can melt the insulation inside the door as well as melt the sealer because it gets to hot.
Adding a solor shield film to the glass in the storm door would be one way to stop it from happening agin.

See if you can ID who made the door. Look at the hindges there may be a name right on the hindge. If you can ID the door company you can replace that trim and sealer.

If you key word search the companys name there should be a list of places selling there doors. Take a picture and some measurements with you.
Anyplace selling storm doors is not likly to tell you about what it's going to do to your door, if they did you would not buy it.
