caulking door way (outside)

need to get a clean cut line ( how do I)
my tape will not stick to the brick...and I'm afraid the caulk line

Practice first on some scrap or in inconspicuous areas. Or use clear caulk

After old caulk removed - too big a gap for clear caulk. . . in my opinion.

How big of gap?

What type of caulk?

You want a polyurethane based caulk if it’s going against brick.

If the gap is too large, installing a small moulding may solve most of your problems.

Stucco tape and caulk will give you the finest lines.
