Can an "entry door" be installed as an interior door?

Can an "entry door" be installed as an interior door? I can't find the design I want (single prehung with paneled glass) in an "interior door".

Sure. If you find one that fits, and it swings the right way (entry doors open inward), it can be done.

Quick google search: http://homerenovations.about.com/od/...intextdoor.htm

Can it be done? Yes, but there are a couple things to think of.

If you are talking a prehung unit, the big weather stripping is going to be pretty ugly on an interior door; and the factory threshold will need to be removed. Removing the weather stripping is going to leave about a 3/8" gap between the stop and the door face.

If replacing an existing door blank only in the current frame, you will have to recut the hinge mortises and move the door stops, as the exterior door is thicker than an interior door.

I had and exterior door hung in my basement because I needed a steel door on a corner I plan to use for a little tornado protection. I didn't know about the threshold until it was installed and it is UGLY.
MY GC of course doesn't want to remove it and since it's my mistake for not knowing about the threshold, I'm thinking of having someone else come and do it before the floor goes in. I'm afraid it'll be $$$
I think you might be able to have it removed prior to installation. Just keep it in mind.

Anything can be done, but the issue is the customization necessary to make it look acceptable, and even then, what the finished product will look like... Check out a millwork company or something like that for a better selection of interior doors. You may find what you are looking for.
