Awning window operator issue
3 Attachment(s)
I have a awning window that won't open.

It has an crank style operator like this.

The problem is when I turn the operator, the top portion of the operator "pushes" itself away from the window frame.

Upon closer examination, the screw hole on the window frame seem to be too large, larger than the screw used for the single top hole of that operator.

Actually, it is already using a screw one size bigger than the others, but it is still not "catching" the window frame tight enough.

Any thoughts on how one would solve this problem? I can't really restore the hole to it's original - smaller - size.

The only thing I can think of is to see about using a bolt and see if I can finesse a nut on the other end...I am not sure there is room though. The other option is to try a different operator that has the top hole in a different position so I can drill a new one, but I am not sure the bottom two holes will stay in the same place?

Post a picture of the window you have.
In most cases you have to use the same style crank you have now.
If this is on an alumium framed window is there any reason an aluminum rivit with a washer on the back side would not work?
