Automatic Garage Door Issues
I have an older, somewhat rickety wood garage door that has a newer automatic closer attached to it. When the door is in the open position, it only moves about six inches forward before it stalls for a brief second then retracts to the fully open position. If I manually put the door down and then raise it up with the opener, it has no problem.

The automatic opener (belt driven) is not mounted in the center - it is off to the far right. The track on that side is not exactly straight - it widens away from the door. There are sensors, but they appear to be lined up correctly. I wasn't sure if there is a way to check them though. The rollers seem to be OK as they pretty much stay on the track. I did have to add a newer roller on one side.

Anybody have any thoughts on this?

Paging Mike.....

Check the closing tension, travel, and sensor alignment.

My question would by why is the drive off to the far right? If the track is not straight, or it is pulling more on that one side yes it could cause problems. My guess is that because the drive is to the right, is why the track is all crooked. Post pictures so that people can get a better idea with what you are dealing with.

ok - I can post pics of needed.

How do I align the sensors?

Also, if it's the travel, how do I adjust this?

Post some pics Sobro. Also, what kind of opener do you have?
