Anyone know how to mount storms in these windows?
Have a 1908 brick house with wooden sash windows that I am restoring. The brick molding around the windows is a bullnose profile (see photo). Has anyone seen how they fit a wood storm into these. I do not have original storms and am not even sure that there were any. I want to have a tight fitting wood storm along the edges, but trying to cut a reverse curve profile seems ridiculous especially if I want to adjust the width for a close fit. I am thinking of machining a rabbet into the back of the storm and have the lip extend out to the molding (see drawing). Then the next question is how to secure it?

Very unlikely that they window opening is square enough to be able to mount that storm that perfectly to that small a lip.

Have you pulled a section of the brickmould?

In love with that style molding for some reason?
If not change to real brick mold.
Then the storms would work.
Most of the trims going to get covered anyway.

I just trimmed out all the dormers on an historical house with that 1 1/2" quarter round. had it milled from PT dry lumber so the stuff should last forever.

on topic and related to original postrs storm door issue- not sure how the storm will mount to it though when it's used as brickmold around door...

Your going to put pressure treated wood in direct contact with aluminum?
For one thing the finish on the frames will start to bubble off.
Pressure treatment does not go all the way through the wood, milling off the outer layer may have left the wood unprotected if to much was taken off.
