anderson counter balance

On the anderson double-hung windows, I have a few sash cords that have snapped.
I understand that I have to replace the counter balance on these windows.
How hard/easy is this project, and are they available at Lowes or Homedepot?

Probably not a stock item, but anyone that sells Andersen should be able to get them, or order direct online. Hard is a subjective term. It is easy for me, but I do it often enough that I know how. I would say that anyone with averag DIY skills that knows which end of screwdriver to use, can do it.

You can order these from any place that handles Andersen windows. You will need to know the window size to get the correct balance.
It takes a bit of finesse to replace these balances.

The Andersen Customer Service line is 1-888-888-7020 and they will be happy to help you and make sure you get the correct replacement parts ordered and shipped directly to your house.

They would also be able to email you the instructions on how to replace the balancers or you can go to www.andersenwindows.com under service/install & replace then select your window type there are instructions on how to replace the balancers.

When you call the customer service line they will need the CIG number which is located on the glass around the Andersen logo. The logo is usually in the lower right hand corner of the window. That number will provide us information about your window so they can provide you with the correct parts.
