Question

aluminum windows

I live in a house that was built in 1978 and has aluminum windows. Some of them consist of small panes set into aluminum strips that are covered with some kind of hard gray plastic. UV rays, heat and time have practically destroyed the plastic; leaving cracks and holes.

Is there any way I can replace this plastic? It looks like Hades and I am about to sell the house. A while back I looked into replacing the windows but my home is stone and I was told it would be ghastly expensive.

What to do? I'm counting on all you fixers out there!

If I understand correctly, those are strips that isolate the frame and sash that allows the sash to slide freely. Check online for obsolete window parts. Doubtful you will find much. Not the answer you seek.
