1905 Casement Window Hinges Removal

I am trying to remove a hinge fitting from an old window frame. Please see picture below. I think the fitting is called a gate hinge or a blind hinge although being over 100 years old, there are not many photos on the interweb (like none!).
Hope you can help

This site does not allow for the direct attachment of pictures but if you register a free account on photobucket or similar photo hosting site, you can link to the image and more people will be able to see it.

If you click on "Go Advanced", you will see a section labeled "Manage Attachments". From there, you can attach a .jpg, .gif, that has to be 620x280. If you link from photobucket, flicker, etc. you need to size the pictures appropriately, so that they are not so small you cannot see the detail, but not so large, that it blows out the margin.

Maybe something bad, maybe something good. I guess we'll never know, 'cause you're going to guard it. You won't touch it, will you?
