Picture of attic kneewall for bonus room above uninsulated garage.

Located in ohio

My thoughts are to fill in the missing tyvek with reflextex and insulate..

Better yet would be to spray foam all the gaps and back it with a ignition/thermally compliant rigid foam.

Does it matter if the faced batt insulation already inplace has the vapor barrier facing towards the living space?

Reflectix is no less of a vapor barrier than is foil faced ISO and less than XPS.

You could cover the joist (perpendicular) with batts as well and cover with Tyvek for wind wash protection.

Thank you for the suggestions, much appreciated. I like the foam idea but hate working with the stuff. The batt/tyvek solution seems like the best.

Thanks again
