Vapor Barrier Question (Another One)
Sorry for yet another vapor barrier thread. I've done the search & gotten all manner of differing opinions, none of which really address what I'm doing. Anyway...
Tomorrow I'm going to begin studding in & drywalling two walls of a family room/office in a rental house (third wall is already drywalled). I'll be using 2x4 studs & R11 fiberglass bats.
Both walls are concrete block. One wall is an exterior wall, and the other wall is the garage wall.
Conventional wisdom seems to say always put vapor barrier on the "warm side" of the insulation, and I'm tentatively planning to do that, but I'd like to clarify a couple things.
- Would you treat the unheated garage wall the same as an exterior wall, and install the vapor barrier between the studs & drywall?
- Is there any reason to "double install" the vapor barrier, installing a layer against the blocks, then another immediately behind the drywall?
Thanks for your thoughts!
