Vapor barrier question
I live in a 1964 cape. Is home with a raised dormer. We had Panneling removed from the upstairs bedrooms and had new insulation and drywall put in. He put faced insulation and then a poly sheet over that. I know that not ideal and my questions is should it be removed? The exterior is tyvek with foam and vynel. I am worried about mold growing in the walls as we had a mold issue with the fireplace. What would u all do

where are you located? vapor barriers/retarders as based upon climate zones, which are based upon physical location ....

No permits or inspections? if something was wrong and it was to be inspected, the inspector will not pass it until corrected. Situations like this are a good reason to go through the process.

I am in mass. There was a permit but the inspector wasn't here till after the wall was closed. My question is will the double barrier be enough of a problem that I should take down the walls and redo them

the wall was closed before an insulation inspection? not typical in Massachusetts. typically you have your framing inspection (after rough plumbing and electrical) and then your insulation inspector prior to hanging wall board or interior finishes. At least along southeast mass.

hear is a link for you to check out.

How thick is the exterior foamboard? The paper-faced insulation may be alright, but not the plastic.
