Using Fanfold as a back to sprayfoam against

I have some ceiling joist that need a backer on top so my spray foam guy has something to spray the closed cell foam against. He recommended using fanfold since it will be easy and cheap to install. Has anyone done this? Will the spray foam melt it and will it be strong enough to hold the foam until it cures.
