You don't need to staple it like crazy as you are covering it, but I would tack it up enough to secure it as the drywall goes up. It doesn't hurt anything and staples aren't expensive.
One of the concerns is to prevent any moisture from inside the garage, the moisture vapor from rain and snow melt, from making its way through the fiberglass insulation and reaching the cold sheathing. I've see an inch of ice form over the winter and create a mess in the spring when it melts.
Somethings really wrong if that's happening.
Lack of roof venting, there was never a vapor barrier under the slab, slab was not at least 6" above grade.
