Sealing 1/16 to 1/4 inch gaps XPS Foam

I'm sealing the Gaps at the floor, where the 2 inch meets the 1 inch XPS. There's gaps caused by the roughness of the foundation walls at the bottom. I've been jamming in the the thin pieces from here and there and now I'm cutting pieces to fit in.
I don't think the gaps are big enough to use spray foam, and would not like to cut the excess off once it cures.
Is there a better suggestion? Maybe sealing/working PL3000 into the gaps?
I do plan to cover with the red vapor barrier tape once filled.
Thanks
