Old Insulation Question

In the process of removing old K&T wiring and noticed that the insulation used in the ceiling turns to dust the second you touch it (both the paper and the insulation itself).

Should I be concerned? Is it a health or fire issue? Thanks

Old Insulation Question

Can you post a picture so we can tell what you have.
Anytime I've found old paper faced fiberglass insulation in that condition it's because of lack of venting causing an over heated attic.

There is only one heater duct for the entire second floor. Doubt if it's over heated. Feels like the inside of a refrigerator in the winter

Probably just VERY old. I'm guessing it's around 35 - 40 years old.
