insultation of duct work

so the previous own decided to run the duct work underneath the sun room ,which is also exposed to the elements. The duct is a cold/hot air feed for the room directly above and the 2nd floor. Due to the small size of the A/C unit. my house really does have a cooling problem. I'm in the process of identifying all the leaks and try my best to seal up the place best i can.

anyhow, on to the duct work. you can see that there is some insulation material in the area but i can def feel a cold draft if i stick my hand in the space. Question is how to best insulate this space? canned foam?? or do i need to build something to cover it completely.

Your best bet is to tear all of the ceiling material down and open it up, so that you can get up there. It also, would give you a chance to fix any problems at the house side, re-route the catv wires, and then attack the duct work, then insulation. If you spray foam, get a few bids and ask if you can also get referrals for current jobs if any, or prev. jobs that you can talk to those people.

Maybe something bad, maybe something good. I guess we'll never know, 'cause you're going to guard it. You won't touch it, will you?

Do some spot demo and post up some pictures. If that is how they left it, odds on favorite that other stuff is wrong and it is impossible to tell for the picture that you posted.
