insulation in crawl spaces
3 Attachment(s)
I have a spare bedroom that gets a little chilly and it has two crawl spaces with doors on each side of the room. There is insulation in there but not on the ceilings. I was wondering if I should put some sheets of insulation up on the ceiling and if it would help with keeping the room warm. I have attached some pictures to give you guys a better idea of where I am wanting to put insulation. Let me know your opinion guys! Thanks!

This would more aptly be referred to as a knee wall storage area.

If you search around the board, you will see a host of these threads about the proper insulation and air sealing details that will help mitigate these comfort issues.

The cliff notes are:
  • install blockers in the joist bays and air seal
  • air seal all penetrations in the wall, sill plate, and top plate
  • back the exposed wall with either a combination of rigid foam and/or batt insulation to thermally uncouple the framing
