hello. i have steam pipe lines in my apartment. i have insulated the MS pipes with glass wool. I am thinking that if i use any gas insulation (say Chlorine gas insulation) i will be able to save energy as gases have very low thermal conductivity. Is it safe to use chlorine insulation.? What will it averagely cost for insulating 1 meter of pipe.? What if there is a pitting in pipe and chlorine gas enters the steam flow? Is using gas insulation advisable.?
I would leave it all alone as you are not the owner. If you added something to the building and problems arose, you would be liable unless you had written approval from your landlord.
