Insulating furnace room with vapor barrier

Hi there,

Hope this isn't a repost, but I was just second guessing myself and figured I wanted to ask you guys/gals for advice:

I finished my basement and my furnace room is right beside the seating area. I purchased some roxul sound insulation and was going to install it in the wall separating the seating area and the furnace room. I wasn't going to drywall, just simply put up a plastic barrier so the insulation isn't exposed. Is this a safe method?

Thanks
