insulating floor-joists in a crawl space.


Moisture is the consern with a wood frame house. What type of insulation should I use, are louvers necassary behind insulation for ventilation and what do i use to fasten the insulation: staples thin metal rods that flex?

Spray foam is best in this case.

Rigid foam is the next best in my opinion.

Hello and welcom Waylon, to the best darn DIY'r site on the web.

Have you ever considered insulating the foundation and heating the crawlspace, helps keep the space dry and the floors warmer.

If the moisture content of the earth does not require a vented crawlspace, encapsulating (vapor barrier) across the floor and insulating the walls is ideal.
