do i need to insulate a double brick home? if so why?

Do you need to? no, because you can spend your money on heating it instead.

Will it help you save money on heating? yes. There is value in insulating a home.

Where are you located? If it was 3 layers (wythes), I would suspect some typical residential construction in England or possibly Russia.

What do you mean about a "double brick" wall? Two layers with a gap of some size between them or is it a solid bonded wall?

Need more information in this case.

Changing the venting of a brick wall improperly can have disastrous consequences.
