Hello,
I would like to section off of part of my basement where my furnace is located. I would probably block off a 15' x 30' section (assuming this complies with local code). Since our living room is located directly above where the furnace is in the basement, I would like to add insulation to the basement ceiling to try and quite some of the noise when the furnace is running so it's not as loud from upstairs. I know insulating it won't quite it completely, but I figured it wouldn't hurt.
I'm wondering if it would be best to use fiberglass batts or foam insulating boards, or if anyone else had other ideas? I saw some acoustic insulation, which is a little more expensive, but I don't know too much about it.
Thanks,
Ed
