Insulate exterior basement walls
I do not heat my basement, but I would still like to insulate the exposed the cement between the sill and ground.. What is the best way to do this?
So 4 things that I am lookong for..
#1 - I am thinking of using extruded foam board for the insulation.
#2 - What should I use to cover the foam? to weatherize it.
#3 - How should I attach to wall? Liquid nails?
#4 - How deep should I put the foam board etc in the ground?
XPS is well suited for basement insulation.
If we are talking about exterior applications, you would want to follow the same waterproofing guidelines that you would if it were bare concrete.
Not liquid nails. Use a foam specific glue that will not melt the foam board.
The full depth of the wall.
