How to Insulate Metal Roofing from the Interior

The drawings call for R30 rigid insulation. I was hoping to find a CAD detail...............metal clips maybe glued to the underside of the metal roofing?

Thanks

What type of roof/attic structure?

You are talking about quite an undertaking and a layer of rigid foam with SPF would by my recommendation.

It's a metal building structure (beams, girders, joists, spandrels, purlins) it has fire damage and they want R30 insulation installed (it calls for ridgit foam on the DWG) but I guess what ever is the most cost effective will work.

Can you post up a picture? Most steel buildings are most effectively and easily insulated with Spray Foam.

Pappy: I am not a pro, but I would not consider anything but spray foam on a metal roof. Trying to adhere rigid foam, in layers, is going to be an enormous PITA, and I don't think it will end up being airtight. There is a max thickness that can be sprayed at once, so inquire about that with the spray company.
