Help: Should I use insulated siding?

My house is over 80 years old and for the most part the outside walls are bare brick. The top portion of the house in the front has vinyl siding and the remaining other 3 sides of the house have old wooden siding just on the very top section where the attic is. The wooden siding needs to be replaced, but the question I'm wondering is, should I get insulated siding. I guess I don't completely understand how\why to insulate the attic, but I can tell you that the attic gets freezing in winter and the summer it's baking hot.
The house is in Cincinnati, OH.

Here is the kind of siding I was looking at: http://www.schneiderhomeequipment.co...ed-Siding.html

Also here is a picture of my house.

Not if you think it is going to actually insulate your home.

Foam backed siding was invented for rigidity and that is all. It does very little to insulate the home.

Have a qualified remodeler (someone who understands energy and efficiency) look at the home when you pull the siding off and get it done and insulated then.

I would have to agree. I do like insulated siding, but mainly for the rigidity and look in comparison to hollow-core siding. If energy-savings is your goal, look to get an energy audit, or have an insulation company come out and give you recommendations. Siding replacement is a great time to get the wall cavities insulated if they are not, or if the existing material is insufficient.
