Heavy draft under cast iron baseboard

I live in an older home so I know drafts are going to happen. There is however a strong draft coming from a 4 foot-ish section under one of the cast iron baseboards.

Ive posted a pic but you really cant see much. I know these types of things are annoying to remedy, but what if I just shot some 'great stuff' into the gaps?

Safe? Effective?

Probably just as easy to rip some Roxul or other dense fibrous insulation and stuff into the gap.

I am not a fan of shooting foam unless I know where it is going or what it will be against.

Re: Heavy draft under cast iron baseboard

How big is the gap and will the foam or whatever be visible after repaired. Foam that isn't enclosed inside some cavity and protected from the light (uv I believe) will deteriorate and shrink.

Options might be caulking or caulking covered by a piece of trim. If it is a larger gap then they have fillers that can be used first.

Like Windows I hesitate to use the can foam.

If the crack is bigger than your pinky finger, stuff some foam backer rod in there prior to caulking. Use a siliconized door and window caulk like Dynaflex 230 or equal.

The backer rod comes in about any size you need.
