Frame basement sidewalls with 2x6 for thicker insulation?

We are getting ready to finish our basement and the majority of the basement is not currently framed. I am starting to wonder if I should possibly frame the perimeter walls with 2x6 boards instead of 2x4 to allow thicker insulation around the perimeter. If anywhere I am thinking to at least do the wall that is shared with the drive in garage which is attached, / walk out from basement, and pretty much open air. The remainder of the basement only has the top foot - two feet above grade.

More info will help. What is holding the walls up now? Are they just dirt? Heights? Where are you?
