Foam board necessary?

Looking to insulate and drywall the basement bathroom this weekend. The wall is framed out about 3" from the block foundation which is where the supply lines and vent lines are. Do I need to put foam board up along the block wall or will the empty space not create that much of a cold spot?

TIA

No different from te rest of the Midwest. Yes, you need either Foamboard, or have closed cell foam sprayed after framing the wall, and running all wiring, for both low voltage and any 120 or 240 vAC.

The empty space will give convective loops behind the batt insulation; https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q...fHFsk1RrK9G2HQ

Foamboard is not the only system, just the safest, especially if walls are not perfectly dry all the time; http://www.buildingfoundation.umn.ed...em/default.htm

And from up North; http://www.buildingscience.com/docum...Insulation.pdf
