faced insulation


hello
does the paper with flaps go inside or outside when installing

They go over the face of the studs, so that you get a continuous vapor barrier. First off, where do you live? Also how old is the structure, and is there something like Tyvek on the outside of the structure already?

im in new york upstate, we doing a basement ceiling no prior installation
we have rolls of r19 faced installation, neighbor mention the paper side goes in first not the pink

just curious

faced insulation


Then you do not want to use faced insulation. Basements you need to use XPS Foam board, not the faced insulation. Look at the previous threads on basement insulating, and also http://www.buildingscience.com.

Don't need insulation in basement ceiling for R-value, is this for sound proofing?

faced insulation


All
basement high in moisture, there was no prior installation on walls. floor ceiling
purpose eliminating the cold for the winter
Room Floors usually cold during those months
Im trying to keep the cold out at least to a minimum
usually a wood stove to heat house currently
