exposed crawl space insulating options

I have a room with an exposed crawls space for lack of a better term. The room is built and then the floor was insulated with fiberglass insulation. it is in a cabin type home. And I have replaced it 2X. Seems the squirrils love to use the stuff somewhere else. I have not been able to keep them out long term. Still working on that.

I was thinking of doing spray foam on this. Would that be better and less prone to be removed?
Also what is the difference between the sealant and the insulation, I am looking at the froth packs from home depot.

http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/...tgry=SearchAll

What would you guys recommend?
Thanks

that was a good read. so I have changed because of the expense in doing tat much foam. I now plan to use foam board insulation that is foil backed. steak it 2 to 3 layer deep in the hosts, and seal it with the can foam, and eventually cover the whole thing with the foil backed foam board. I think that I can do this one 2 inch layer at a time.
does that noun like it will work?

The plywood is to stop the squirrels from entry. Bottom layer (only) to the joists needs be foil-faced, joints taped, don't forget the rims; http://www.buildingscience.com/docum...l_seal_rev.pdf

That sounds just like a bunch of phd educated people. They need to enroll in at least a summer course at an institution that has a squirrelology department.
