effect of debris on insulation

a tree fell through my roof and i am in the process of cleaning it up and repairing the damage. There is saw dust and other debris on top if the insualtion. does the debris effect the insulation if i keep it there and just put boards on top of it or should i vacuum it or even take it out and put new insulation down?
