Double-wall construction
So, I am planning on building a 1000 sq ft super-insulated cabin, (located in mid-Saskatchewan where it can be very cold), and intend to make the exterior wall a double-wall.
I would like to make the outer wall with 2x8 for R-35 batt insulation which is 8 inches thick, and the inner wall with 2x6 and R-20 batt insulation, and a 2-3 inch air space in between.
Does anyone have any experience building double-wall construction for housing? Where exactly should the vapour barrier be located?
Any help on building a super-insulated home would be greatly appreciated.
