Basement Insullation - Help

I paid alot of money to get my basement finished. The contractor installed 2X4's inch from the wall and I will insulate. I am freaking out because I cannot afford to have the work removed and XPS added. Can anyone help me figure out the best approach that would be better. Before we started the project we pulled down yellow insulation that was bolted to the wall. Like I said, I cannot afford to pay someone to tear it down.

Basement Insullation - Help

I think at this point the best choice would be spray foam. Not cheap but would get behind the studs. Much cheaper than tearing out and rebuilding. Was this a contractor or a friend? Did he not suggest insulating?

Nothing wrong with traditional batt insulation in these cases either.

Does it work as well as rigid board in basement applications...not really but it is still fine.

Be sure the band joists are sealed up and insulated (that can still be done now) and insulate the walls with a better batt (i.e. high density FG or Roxul) and make sure the drywall is airtight.
