Basement insulation question
So my basement has that white plastic covered insulation anchored into the concrete walls. My question is, should I remove all of that and glue foam boards to the walls and then build my stud walls or just leave what I have and build my walls? I live in the Colorado Springs area. Thanks.

You should worry about your home not burning down first.

Prayers to all those folks in C-Springs dealing with that terrible wildfire.

I went to school out there and I love that town.

After that, foam board is far, far superior to PSK insulation.

Yeah there are so many families displaced at this time. We were fortunate that the wind blew the fire away from us. Thanks for the info on the PSK. Now I know what to call it.

Would you suggest that I remove all of the PSK and install foam board against the walls? And what might be the best/cheapest options in regards to foam board for my area?

Glad you are okay.

Read up on sealing up the band/ribbon board areas as well.

Look for XPS foam and shop it.

What Zone (below the map- per State) are you in determines foam thickness. 4, 5, 6, or 7?;

I'm going to go with 5B. I'm pretty new to Colorado Springs and Colo Springs isn't on that list. It's either a 5 or 6 and winters are pretty mild in the springs so I hear so I'm going with 5.

Is that your final Use 1"XPS, unfaced (with R-13 cavity fill). Do a "search" at the top-of-page white box for "basement insulation", or just click on my name and scan my answers under "find my posts"...
