BASEMENT INSULATION FOR 6mo OLD HOME???

Hello, thank you in advance for any advice.

We recently just finished building our home in Madison, WI. I am looking at finishing our basement, and have some questions regarding the insulation.

After speaking with the contractor that built the home, he said adding fiber insulation to the inside of the 8" poured concrete wall is not completely necessary as there is R10 foam board on the outside of the concrete wall.

What are some thoughts on this? I was planning on putting fiber insulation between the studs, but is this overkill?

Thank you!

It is not overkill and fiberglass is cheap.

Get unfaced and VOC free.

Have someone (you) run the numbers on ROI on R30, then factor in some comfort. In Mad, Wis, I'd sure not stop at R10.
You may find this informative. things have changed a little bit, as will always happen.

If the outside wall has had styrofoam applied and you still wish to insulate the inside with fiber insulation, be sure to insulate WITHOUT a paper backing. The paper backing would create a double or reverse vapor barrier causing trapped moisture.

JK, I found that link you posted just yesterday while researching! Should have found this thread sooner! LOL.
