Attic insulation/flooring

My wife and I recently bought our first home. I have been slowly fixing things that the previous homeowner did, or didn't do in some cases (as my wife puts it drunken monkeys worked on the house). At some point, they converted the garage into living space. It seems like they did an okay job, but they did not insulate the attic above, except for some random rolls of insulation here and there (it doesn't have central HVAC like the rest of the house, just a wall unit). I am planning on laying down insulation and do at least a partial flooring job for storage. My questions are 1- does it matter if I use blow-in or rolls if I am going to lay flooring and 2- do i need to put any kind of vapor barrier down since I am laying flooring on top of the insulation, and in effect sealing it? The house has solid wood ceilings if that makes a difference. Thanks for the help!

You're going to get 1000 questions asking if you know what you're doing putting a floor up there. Did you call the planning department? Are you sure the roof/walls can hold it? Don't cut trusses...etc, etc...
But also someone more knowledgable will be along to answer your vapor barrier question.
I would guess not, as upper and lower areas will be kept approximately the same temperature. But I'm no insulator, so I could be wrong.
(there are some extremely knowledgable people here. Usually they will back up what they say with reference to a web site or reference to a code).
