Attic hang-out insulation options.

We had a flat-roofed garage that was converted to a (Gabriel style??) type garage and we have a nice roof area above the small garage. It has a tv, a couch, internet, speakers, etc.... It gets way too hot to stay in during the summer, and comfortable in the winter, but again, way too cold at some nights. I was wondering what my best inexpensive option is for insulating this area? Also, what are my requirements for air flow (To keep out moisture right?)

I can post pictures if necessary. Thanks guys!

Need those pictures.
Your going to need soffit vents, ridge vent, baffles, and faced insulation.
Need to know where you live (go back and add it to your profile) and how wide the rafters area.

I ain't cheap, but you may be a candidate for closed cell spray foaming, or (cheaper) covering the inside w/ rigid foam and taping/gooing the seams to air seal. Pics will surely help. Venting, as mentioned, is not an option unless you spray foam.

+1 to both comments.

Inexpensive ≠ Best ... in most cases.

BTW: I mis-worded again in my above response; gotta slow down. Venting is MANDATORY. "NOT venting is not an option" is what I meant to say.
