Another Basement Insulation question

Hi Guys this is my first time in this forum.

I'm doing a sound proof room in my basement and the framing that was installed is 2X3, so what R value should I use?

I live in montreal canada so it gets pretty cold.

Also would it be ok to put the insulation directly on the concrete and put the vapor barrier after or should I put plastic against the concrete then the insulation and plastic again?

thank you

The insulation should never touch the fondation. With just 2 X 3's your going going to be able to get much insulation in there.
There has to be over 2000 post already on here about that one subject.
Go back up to the search funtion at the top right and check it out.

sound proofing is not necessarily an insulation question, though insulation can help. as joe said, do a search for both; tons of info.

Only if the insulation is a rigid foam.

If so, depending on type and thickness, you do not need the poly vapor barrier.

Sound is usually more impacted by the interruption of vibrations through the framing as compared to the insulation schedule.
